The Staff File Collection is a collection of both print and digitized files which are core recommended readings. The files are typically journal articles, book chapters, lecture notes or other core material needed by course students, which are in high demand.
Your lecturer will tell you if he/she has placed items in the collection. If the items have been digitized they will be available as a link on Blackboard.
If the items have been placed in the print collection, they are kept in the library behind the counter. These items are available for short term loan and can be borrowed for a 2 hour period up until 4pm when they will be issued overnight. The print files are all listed on the Library catalogue. To search, you will need to choose a search type and you will be taken to the search screen with the "search options" list on the right hand side. Select Lecturer name from this list and put in the name you wish to search for. Note the number of the file you wish to borrow and ask for the file by number at the library counter. Material in the files in most cases can be photocopied unless otherwise stated on the file.
Members of Academic Staff can request material to be included in the collection by submitting the online form. A separate form is needed for each item you wish to be placed in the collection. Please enter as much information as possible.
We must ensure that all items placed in the collection abide by the copyright regulations and the Higher Education Licence administered by the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) which the University has signed.
Before submitting requests it would be advisable to read the information leaflet about the Staff File Collection which gives more information about the process and the permissions/restrictions of the Licence agreement
Any requirements made in excess of the limits of the CLA licence will require the copyright holder's permission (normally the publisher).
