How do I find a book?

How do I reserve a book?

If all our copies of the book you want are on loan you may reserve a copy.

Please note that sometimes there can be several reservations on a title. You will be added to the reservation queue and reservations will be satisfied in order of priority.

What can I borrow

Quick Service items are short-loan items available from the J.B. Priestley Library self-service room located to the right of the Counter on Floor 0. Items can be borrowed for 24 hours, or from Friday to Monday morning.

Use the self-issue machines to borrow library materials. Quick Service items and materials you have reserved may be borrowed using a dedicated self-issue machine located in the self-service room.

Tip! Loan periods vary, and you cannot borrow anything if you have a fine of £5 or more.

Are fines charged for overdue books?

Yes! - Please return books promptly, especially if recalled by another reader, so that as many students as possible have a chance to use them. Overdue notices are normally sent by e-mail to students (please check your e-mail box regularly). If you have an outstanding fine of £5 or more you will not be allowed further borrowing until the fine is paid. A list of current fines is provided.

How do I renew my book?

Either by:

Tip! You can’t renew if you have a fine of £5 or more, or if the book has been reserved.

How do I return my book?

Use the self-returns machine in the J.B. Priestley Building, or go to the counter at the Management Library.

Tip! You can also drop the book into the chute on the wall outside the J.B. Priestley Building at any time.
