Length of the thesis - word limits
The maximum length of the thesis is as follows:
Doctor of Philosophy |
80,000 words (absolute maximum 100,000) |
| Professional Doctorates | 50,000 words* |
| Master of Philosophy | 40,000 words |
Appendices and bibliography are excluded from the above upper limits.
*Unless otherwise specified in individual course regulations.
Please note: Examiners have in the past been very critical of excessively lengthy theses.
