Student Profile - Rafaela Armitage

Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care - Part Time Route

I enjoy the course and find it interesting. The support from both tutors and fellow students is outstanding as we all work together and offer both emotional support academically, but also socially.

I am 36 years old and a married mum of three. I work 30 hours a week as a support worker in supported living, working with learning and profound physical disabilities.

I chose to study the Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care Part Time Route as a continuation of my studies, having just finished my NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care. It seemed a natural progression, as I really enjoy my job and wish to further my career.

After a brief conversation with the tutor Julie Keightley, I found this was a excellent choice ,as not only does it help with my current job role, but it will enable me to progress further.

Doing this course part time has not only allowed me to continue working, but I still also get the time with my children which has given me the best all round. I would recommend this course to anyone with an interest in health care, as it is a foundation step to many roles.
