Who Should Attend?

The Using DCM for Practice Development  course is for anyone who has attained DCM Basic User status and who requires a deeper understanding of how DCM can be used for developing dementia care practice.  It is highly recommended for  those who are managing DCM projects within organisations.  The course covers organisational readiness for DCM, preparation and management, coding issues, data analysis and report writing, feedback and action planning, ethics, inter-rater reliability and DCM and research.

Fee and booking

The next Using DCM for Practice Development course will be held at Heaton Mount, the University's School of Management, in Bradford on 29 - 31 May 2012.  The course costs £530 per place inclusive of lunches, refreshments, course dinner on the first eveing and course materials.  The fee does not include dinner on the second evening or overnight accommodation.  A number of bedrooms with en suite facilities are available at Heaton Mount at an additional cost of £140 for 2 nights or £215 for 3 nights.  These rates include buffet evening meals.  Student numbers are strictly limited to 30 places.  If you would like a booking form please e-mail dcm@bradford.ac.uk or telephone 01274 235726.

Course Structure

Students wishing to attend are asked to submit evidence of a map which they have carried out within their workplace.  They should submit anonymised raw data sheets for 6 hours' mapping on 5 people at least 2 weeks before the course.  Following the course, students will be required to submit a short report on the map.  Successful completion of this report and passing a written assessment exercise during the course will lead to the award of DCM 'Advanced User' status.  Student numbers on the course will be strictly limited, so please complete and return the booking form as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

On achieving `Advanced User status', students can then work towards gaining the `Approved Trainer status', through a supportive mentorship/peer review process and completion of an accredited module.
