This course is designed for graduate level entrants who wish to specialise in - or develop their ability to provide - workforce development. It will be of particular interest to those with a responsibility for human resources management, staff development/mentoring/supervision, and organisational practice development activities.
The MSc programme will enable you to develop skills in leadership and supervision, team building, and staff motivation and reward. In the final year you will complete a practice based project on a subject relevant to your own field of dementia practice. In the process you will gain important skills in constructing sound arguments and demonstrating familiarity with relevant theory, literature and evidence to support your practice.
The course is delivered by open and distance learning. The course materials are delivered online, this means that you can study at times to suit you in your own home. There are two days of attendance at the University of Bradford.

In year 1 you will complete two compulsory 30 credit modules:
Year 2 consists of two compulsory 30 credit modules:
Year three consists of a single 60 credit dissertation module related dementia workforce development, which you will complete under individual supervision from a member of the course team
This course starts in September each year. The academic year runs from September to June and is divided into two Semesters: September to February and February to June.
You should be working in a field which brings you into contact with a dementia care workforce. Your current role should involve responsibilities for workforce management or staff development.
You should possess a first degree in a relevant subject or equivalent e.g. National Qualifications Framework Level 6, and GCSE grade C or equivalent English language. You must also have access to a computer with internet connection and be prepared to spend on average 15 hours a week on your studies.
(Applicants who do not have the above qualifications should speak to the Course Leader as it may be possible to arrange to submit other evidence of ability.)
Applicants whose first language is not English should have IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
