Funding Opportunity Value and Conditions
Grants for R&D

The Grant for Research and Development (Grant for R&D) scheme, available through the Technology Strategy Board, opened in April 2011. The Scheme is available to single companies. Three types of grant are available:

  • Proof of market grant
  • Proof of concept grant
  • Development of prototype grant

 Pre start-ups, start-ups, and small and medium-sized businesses from all sectors across the UK may apply for the Grant for R&D programme. Further information, including full guidance for applicants and assessment dates.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) Grant support of up to 60% on projects from £40k upwards. These are designed to help companies access and apply University expertise by working in partnership with academics or researchers. The overall aim is to help businesses make a step change in an area that has been identified as high priority. Agreed projects are between one and three years in length.
Manufacturing Advisory Service The University's School of Engineering Design and Technology is a registered Centre of Excellence in Manufacturing and can help access grant funding of up to 50% on projects to support innovation and developments within manufacturing companies
