Pack your picnic and take a daytrip to Bradford
Day trippers programme
Daytrippers tour planner
If you are in Bradford this Friday - keep your eye out for Daytrippers Bradford - a daytime art event happening across the City Centre. The aim of the events is to reach out to members of the public in Bradford who may not have been to any of the arts venues in the centre of Bradford and help people discover the range of fantastic, fun, free daytime art activities available in our City Centre venues.
The June `Daytrippers¿ event will take place from 11am to 5pm across the city centre on Friday 18th June and includes artists talks, workshops, and walking tours of the city centre, taking in Kala Sangam and Bradford Cathedral and a minibus excursion to the Yorkshire Craft Centre, Delius Arts & Cultural Centre and Bradford University¿s Gallery II. Daytrippers will also be treated to a special ¿silent¿ Sound Walk and for kids there will be an opportunity to take part in a giant pavement drawing in Centenary Square. Bradford 1 Gallery is holding a Drawing the City drop-in workshop in their studio area where families can also pick up an Impressions Gallery Trail activity sheet, and take a break in the picnic pit stop.
The Daytrippers event also marks the opening of Fabric¿s new `Pop Up¿ arts space, in-between Markaz and Starbucks in Centenary Square, with a number of exhibitions: `Hidden Treasures¿ is an exhibition of photographs of hidden or unnoticed trails, pathways and walks. Visitors are encouraged to guess where the pictures have been taken and mark it on a big city centre map. There¿s also a moving image piece by Simon Ford and a model of the planned City Park will also be on display.
