Enrolment
Enrolment of new students will
normally take place during 'Welcome Week', and all students will receive
full details in advance. You will also be able to register with the Students'
Union in your first week, getting all the red tape out of the way in one
go!
Student Records
In common with all UK universities,
we provide statistical information on academic staff and students to the
Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA). The material collected is used
by the Funding Councils for Higher Education, the DfEE and universities
themselves, for planning and policy-making purposes, and is subject to
strict confidentiality safeguards. Material is drawn from the record only
in the form of statistical tabulations. If you wish to see a print-out
of the information held about you on the record, you should contact the
Registrar and Secretary.
Many of the University's own
student records are held on computer. If you wish to obtain a copy of
your own record under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998, you can
apply to the Registrar and Secretary, and pay the appropriate charge.
Personal Insurance
Our insurance covers our legal
liability, but it does not insure you against personal accident not involving
the University or its property. The University accepts no liability for
personal property in any of its buildings, and does not insure personal
property against damage or loss. If you wish to insure yourself and/or
your personal property, you should first check to see if you are, or can
be, covered by your own, your parents', or your spouse's existing insurance
policies. If you are not, you can obtain details of suitable cover through
the Students' Union
