Welcome to the Estates & Facilities Health and Safety webpages.  The information contained on these pages is to be used by all Estates & Facilities staff to help them with compliance with current Health and Safety legislation and good practice.

Estates & Facilities Health and Safety Officer

Barrie Ellis has a remit to provide advice on all aspects of Health and Safety policy within the Estates & Facilities Department and in particular the following:

  • Health and Safety Policy
  • Development of Health and Safety Management System CHAS Logo
  • Training and Awareness
  • Health and Safety Compliance
  • Construction, Design and Management (CDM)
  • Asbestos Management
  • Contractor's Health and Safety Scheme

Training

IOSH Managing/Working Safely training courses are now available.  Anyone who has responsibilities of managing or supervising staff should obtain the Managing Safely qualification.  Please contact the Estates and Facilities Health and Safety Officer for details.

The Estates & Facilities Health and Safety Officer produces an Annual Report in September every year to highlight the improvements made over the year and for setting priorities for the forthcoming year.

Audits

The Estates & Facilities Health and Safety Officer carries out audits periodically for the department to identified areas that may need improvements in the way Health and Safety is managed.  Audits can be carried out on request.
