About Learnhigher

As a partner in the LearnHigher Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, the University of Bradford was awarded funds to create an innovative and experimental learning space for group work teaching. This funding is a reward for our existing good practice in and commitment to group work, and is an opportunity to explore how we can continue to develop our teaching to meet the needs of student groups.

Location and facilities

Room 01.58 in the J B Priestley Library was refurbished to create this new space, which includes a new design, new technology (including 16 laptops with wireless capability) and more flexible use of the space. The room may be booked for sessions that meet ALL the following criteria:

  • The purpose is groupwork teaching/activities with student groups
    OR
The session is for staff to develop aspects of their practice in group work.
  • The session requires the technology supplied in the room for group work.
  • The session will have a member of staff present who will be responsible for the equipment within the room.
  • The total number of participants does not exceed 40 (this is an absolute maximum. The optimum number is 25/30 with 5 tables of 5/6 people at each table).

A LearnHigher Room Manual is available to help you use the facilities.

Booking

Bookings are made via the Centre for Educational Development.  Not all booking requests can be agreed and priority will be given to groupwork activities by staff requiring the use of specialist technology within the room.

Please note that several general teaching areas now offer flexible arrangements for group work, based on the Learnhigher specification;  these are booked via Room Bookings.
