New. Year Planner amendments

Please note that there is a slight inconsistency in the year planner 2003/2004. The term dates on the bottom right had side of the year planner are incorrect the correct dates are as follows:

Spring Term :12 January 2004 - 19 March 2004
Summer Term: 19 April 2004 - 11 June 2004

The shaded areas on the year planner are accurate.

New. Financial Year End

The Finance Department would like to point out that it was the financial year end on the 31st July and it would be greatly appreciated if departments could process all July invoices for payment as promptly as possible.

All July invoices need to be returned authorised for payment to the Finance office no later than the 15th August.

Update on national pay negotiations 2003 - 2005

On 21st July 2003, UCEA reported the conclusion of negotiations with the unions on pay rates for the next two years and the modernisation of pay structures. At present, the framework remains subject to the unions' consultations with their members.

New. Self Employment and Enterprise Skills module

New Self Employment and Enterprise Skills module being launched by Career Development Services.

The new module will be at level 2 and is a 10 credit module it will run in both semester 1 and 2. The module has been developed in conjunction with Think Business@Bradford and is open to all students across the university.

New. News from the Officer Staff Association (OSA)
OSA Evening Trip Greyhound Racing

Tuesday 30th September

We are planning an evening trip to the Meadow Court Greyhound Stadium located near Doncaster. It should be a fun night. The first race starts at 7:30 PM. For those of you who like a drink there is a bar. Cost to both members and non-members is £9.50 for coach, entry and a race programme. Alternatively you can watch the racing while eating a meal. The cost for this is members and non-members £15.

Included in the price is the coach, entry, race card, three course carvery meal, tea or coffee and a glass of wine.

The coach will pick us up at 6pm and leave the stadium at 11pm.

Please email s.m.schmassmann@bradford.ac.uk with your booking, stating whether you are having the carvery and put in the post a cheque for the deposit of £5 (non-refundable) made out to the OSA.

Send to Susan Schmassmann, MIS, Richmond Building. Please send the balance before September the 22nd.

Staff Volunteering Audit

The UCAN Project and Programme for a Peaceful City are conducting an audit of university staff volunteering, in partnership with Community Service Volunteers (CSV). This will take the form of an online questionnaire. Your response and input is vital, even if you have not undertaken any volunteering while employed at the University of Bradford.
