The University offers several Foundation Degrees and the first cohorts of students are due to graduate in summer 2004.
There were, however, two outstanding issues concerning Foundation Degree students on which the Senate (March 2004) made recommendations.
These relate to the calculation of final Honours Degrees for students who have undertaken a Foundation Degree and the retention of Foundation Degree Certificates by students who go onto complete an honours degree.
These are operative with immediate effect.

This provides wireless and wired connectivity to the University network for anyone with a University username and password and suitably equiped computer.
More details and an faq are available at http://www.brad.ac.uk/lss/it-services/support/roamnet.php
An addition to Learning Support Services (LSS) policy documents on the topic of wireless networking has been agreed.
The policy explains LSS' position on wireless networks which others outside LSS may want to set up. If you have set up a wireless network in your department which you have not discussed with LSS we could like you to read the document and contact LSS with details of your network. Similarly if you are thinking of setting up such a LAN please contact LSS to discuss. In all cases LSS staff will help to facilitate a solution which works best for all parties but does not pose any security risks or interfere with other wireless activities.
The policy is viewable at http://www.brad.ac.uk/lss/regulations/policy/wireless.php

The Annual Review of the Work of the Course Approval and Review Panel (CARP) will take place on Friday 14th May 2004 and will be held in Room 01.58 in the JB Priestley library from 12 noon until 4.30pm.
All principal and alternate members of an Annual Monitoring Team or a Course Approval and Review Team are invited to attend.
The review is intended to be a reflective event providing the opportunity for members to comment on how things have gone this year - what has gone well and what hasn't worked so well. We aim to share good practice among members and, if appropriate after full discussion, to bring forward suggestions for changes to policy or procedure for consideration by the Academic Policy Committee.
Feedback last year indicated that the 2 hour event did not allow sufficient time for full discussion of all the issues that came up, so in response the meeting this year will commence at 12noon and finish at 4.30pm.
The event is intended to be informal - so if you're unable to attend for the full session please feel free to turn up when you can and join one of the groups.
If you would like to attend this session please email tqe-sec@bradford.ac.uk to reserve a place.
Claire McNamee
Photographs at Gallery II, Chesham Building
McNamee is known worldwide for her black and white photographs of poets, playwrights and novelists. Simon Beaufoy, Willy Russell, Fay Weldon, Ian McMillan and John Hegley are just a few of her subjects.
Opening on Friday, 16 April, 2004, this new exhibition of colour photography - called PING - is startlingly different but equally evocative.
McNamee said: "My photography is about capturing moments. Some of these are as fluid as a fleeting thought or intimate as private dialogues can be." Born in London in 1953, McNamee is now based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. The photographs in PING have a sometimes dream-like quality as sunlight flickers through shutters or neon streetlights swirl.
McNamee adds: "Events like these often happen momentarily, disappearing in the blink of an eye. These mood pictures express a quirkiness that is often present in concentrated experiences."
The exhibition is open weekdays 11am until 3pm between Friday, 16 April and Friday, 14 May, 2004.
