Colleagues may like to know that calls to Bradford College can be classed as internal if you prefix the 4 digit extension number with 716 (instead of the usual 9 for an external line and 43).

We ring 716 3333
Following a successful pilot project during last academic year, LSS is extending the halls of residence computer network (ResNet) to most of the other university-owned halls. By the start of term all halls rooms, apart from those in Shearbridge Green, will have ethernet connectivity similar to that used in staff offices. Students will use an ethernet cable to connect to the network and not use modems via telephone lines as in previous years. We are providing ResNet at a speed that is comparable to domestic broadband services.
The really good news for students is that this service will be free. Although some other universities are carrying out similar projects, not charging extra for it is something that should be very attractive to students and hopefully persuade some to pick Bradford over other institutions.
There is a website dedicated to ResNet, http://www.resnet.brad.ac.uk, upon which news will be posted as halls come online.
Please refer any prospective or current students to that site if they have any questions. There is also another web page with some ResNet info at http://www.brad.ac.uk/lss/it-services/support/resnet.php

Members of staff are invited to consider nominating individuals for the award of honorary degrees of the University.
Further details with regard to current policy and associated guidelines can be found at http://www.brad.ac.uk/admin/student-registry/awards/Honorary_Degrees.htm
Proposals, to include biographical details and a full supporting statement, should be sent under confidential cover to Nick Buck, Student Registry by Friday 27 August 2004 for consideration by the Honorary Degrees Committee at its 9 September meeting.
Nominations received after this date can be considered at meetings of the Committee to be held later in the session. If you are interested in putting a name forward and would find it helpful to discuss the case further before doing so please contact Nick Buck on 3038 or email at n.j.buck@bradford.ac.uk.
As you will no doubt appreciate
it is most important that any persons nominated for an honorary degree
should not be made aware that there was any possibility of such
an award being conferred upon them.
