This September, the university delegates to the recruitment fair in Kenya are planning a visit to the Tenderfoot Orphanage in Nairobi, which is supported by Hillcrest, the secondary school hosting the fair.
Cyn Gault from the International Office is the Bradford delegate, and would like to ask staff members if they can donate any (portable!) children's toys and/or clothes that would be suitable to give to the children. She plans to fill an extra bag and check it in as normal luggage - and any items which cannot be carried will go into a car boot sale for the Comforter Hostel, a charitable institution for homeless children in Chennai, South India.
If you would like to donate items, please bring them to the International Office, F25 Richmond Building, before Friday 5th September
The notice in the Staff Briefing Edition 129 at http://www.brad.ac.uk/briefing/we-22-august03.php#pet mentioned that prospective applicants must have first attended an information session.
This session is on Tuesday 2 September 2pm-3pm in Room J22 Richmond Building - not on the date mentioned.
There is no need to book onto this session, just turn up. Successful applicants will then need to attend the Introductory Workshop session on Thursday morning 11 September.
Further details of this event will be sent when applications have been received by the Staff Development Unit.
Please note that week commencing the 1st to 5th of September there will be no hot food served in the main refectory due to refurbishment in the main kitchen. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and the main refectory will resume normal service on the 8th September.
Strollers Cafe on F floor will be open for Soup, Toasties and Paninis and cold snacks will be available in the main refectory during these times.

Following a successful pilot study in Estates during 2002, we are now implementing the HERA scheme across the whole University. The 'live' programme started in May 2003 and approximately 65 benchmark roles within Corporate & Central Services and Learning Support Services have been analysed to date. We are aiming to evaluate around 20% of all University posts in this phase of the project.
Our next 'ports of call' are the Schools of Health Studies, Engineering, Design & Technology and Life Sciences over the next couple of months and these will be followed by the remainder of the Schools between October 2003 and March 2004.
To find out more about HERA, have a look at the website, at: http://www.brad.ac.uk/admin/personnel/HERA/index.html
There will be another chance to go through the procedures for enrolment and re-enrolment or all those staff involved in academic departments. This meeting will include examples of stationery used for different scenarios and will walk you through the procedures students follow in order to enrol and receive their new student card. Also re-enrolment forms for your department's returning undergraduate students will be available for collection from the Hall.
The meeting will take place at 11.00 hrs on Monday 8 September in the Small Hall of the Richmond Building.
Please let me know if you will be attending by return of email to s.n.croll@bradford.ac.uk.
