New. New look to internal Web pages

The top-level internal Web pages have been redeveloped to offer greater accessibility and to meet our legal obligations under the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001.

The site follows the recommendations of the W3C Accessibility Initiative and, as it is aimed at an internal audience, is designed and tested to work in later versions of major browsers. If you are using an early version of a browser where the pages do not display well, you should update your browser as soon as possible.

If we can make our Web site more accessible to you, please e-mail your suggestions to suggestions@brad.ac.uk.

New. Donations needed for Nairobi Orphanage

This September, the university delegates to the recruitment fair in Kenya are planning a visit to the Tenderfoot Orphanage in Nairobi, which is supported by Hillcrest, the secondary school hosting the fair.

Cyn Gault from the International Office is the Bradford delegate, and would like to ask staff members if they can donate any (portable!) children's toys and/or clothes that would be suitable to give to the children. She plans to fill an extra bag and check it in as normal luggage - and any items which cannot be carried will go into a car boot sale for the Comforter Hostel, a charitable institution for homeless children in Chennai, South India.

If you would like to donate items, please bring them to the International Office, F25 Richmond Building, before Friday 5th September

There is no need to book onto this session, just turn up. Successful applicants will then need to attend the Introductory Workshop session on Thursday morning 11 September.

New. HERA (Higher Education Role Analysis) is coming your way!

Following a successful pilot study in Estates during 2002, we are now implementing the HERA scheme across the whole University. The 'live' programme started in May 2003 and approximately 65 benchmark roles within Corporate & Central Services and Learning Support Services have been analysed to date. We are aiming to evaluate around 20% of all University posts in this phase of the project.

Our next 'ports of call' are the Schools of Health Studies, Engineering, Design & Technology and Life Sciences over the next couple of months and these will be followed by the remainder of the Schools between October 2003 and March 2004.

To find out more about HERA, have a look at the website, at: http://www.brad.ac.uk/admin/personnel/HERA/index.html
