Name of new institution - have you filled in your questionnaire?

On behalf of the University and College, Priority Research Limited are conducting a survey to find out what you feel about some of the possible names that have been put forward for the proposed new institution. The questionnaire is hosted by Priority Research Limited on a secure website and individual replies will not be disclosed to the University.

Personal Safety Week from the Students' Union

This week is Personal Safety Week.

Wednesday 29th - Reclaim the Night Vigil.
Meet at 5pm outside the JB Priestley Library - come and tell the SU if you feel unsafe anywhere in the area.

Friday 31st - Phone Safety from West Yorkshire Police.
The Police will be in the Richmond Building Foyer all day helping you security mark your phone and giving out safety advice.

Part-time Modules at SLED

  • Have you thought about doing a module with SLED, where if you meet the criteria there won't be any fees to pay?

The School of Lifelong Education and Development at the University of Bradford are offering modules in Local and Regional Studies. The qualification consists of three levels: a Certificate in Pennine and Yorkshire Studies and Diploma and BA in Local and Regional Studies. Several members of staff at the University have already completed, or are in the process of completing the qualification.

This coming semester we have Level 1 (Certificate) modules in Yorkshire History from 1750, Medieval Yorkshire Towns, and Yorkshire Transport Systems 1700 to 1914.

Limited places available on the following Staff Development Unit events

SPRINGBOARD WOMENS DEVELOPMENT - a 4-day women's development course: 11 Feb, 11 Mar, 15 Apr & 13 May 2003.

REPORT WRITING - awareness of, and assistance with, different types of business reports: 13 February 2003, 09.30 - 12.30.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT - ½ day session on eating disorders. May be of particular interest to anyone working closely with students (lecturers, personal tutors, departmental secretaries) or in pastoral care areas: 17 February 2003, 13.30 - 16.30.

BASIC MEDITATION TECHNIQUES - two 1-hour sessions at Heaton Mount. This is the 3rd of it's kind. This one is mainly for the benefit of those working at the School of Management: 20 & 27 February 2003, 12.30 - 13.30.

Towards a shared future in Britain: challenges to religions

Speaker: Lord Parekh, Chair of The Future of Multi-Ethnic Britain Commission.

This last session from a series of colloquia will be held on Friday 21 February, in the John Stanley Bell Lecture Theatre, Richmond Building, at 6.30pm until 8pm - refreshments will be available from 6.15pm.
