General University notices
Open Day - this Saturday
The University will be holding its next Open Day on Saturday 1 July
from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Please advise any school teachers and other education
contacts, friends or family who may be interested in studying, or current
students who know someone who is considering studying to come along to
the event.
There'll be a brass band, an ice cream van and glorious sunshine!

Special Collections in the J.B Priestley Library
A star attraction for the alumni at the Big Bradford Reunion was one
of the images on the Special Collections Stand: a 1972 aerial view of
the campus.
Spot Richmond Building, Wardley House, and a very large gap where the
Library is now! This image, plus a fish in a wellington boot, J.B.
Priestley encountering a unicorn and many more from the University Archive
and other Special Collections, is on show in the J.B. Priestley Library
Atrium.

UCAN Questionnaire
Please take the time to fill in our short questionnaire about UCAN, the
Student Volunteering Centre. You do not necessarily have to have volunteered
with us before, we would just like to get your feedback about our service
and your thoughts on volunteering.
Once we have received 50 entries we will then pick a lucky winner who
will win two theatre or concert tickets of their choice at a local venue
(up to the value of £20 each).

Sports Centre Summer Camp
The Sports Centre will be running its popular Summer Activity Camp for
children aged 5 - 14 years. Activities include football hockey swimming
and much more.

Counselling Service - still open over summer
The Counselling Service will remain open for appointments throughout
the summer with slight alteration in hours of opening:
There will be no daily lunchtime Drop In after the 19th of June until
September.
The service will be open from 10am to 4pm in July and August.

Launch of The Mirpur Connection Report
SLED are holding an event on July 13th in C7 Richmond, to coincide with
the launch of The Mirpur Connection Report which examines possible education
links in the Mirpur region of Pakistan. The event has already attracted
huge interest from the local community, with the Lord Mayor among the
confirmed guests.

Works on Campus
Richmond Building main staircase - closure
Details of Works: Replacement of defective full height glazing.
To enable the safe removal and replacement of the glazing, the staircase
will be closed between Monday 24th July 2006 and Friday 8th September
2006 inclusive. During this period the staircase will not be accessible
for normal use, however, it will remain accessible in the case of an emergency.
The main lifts will remain in operation during this period, and the secondary
staircases will also be available.
Should you have any queries regarding the above works, please direct

Interruption to Domestic Hot water Services and Mains Steam System
Wednesday 5th, Thursday 6th, & Friday 7th July 2006
To enable essential repairs to the main steam boilers it will be necessary
to isolate the main steam system on the 5th, 6th & 7th of July.
There will be no steam supply to any area of Richmond Building during
these works.
There will be no Domestic Hot Water in:
- Richmond Building
- Workshop Block
- Horton A and D
- Chesham B and C
during these works.

Richmond Building - new corridor doors
Richmond Building on E, F, G and H Floors (Phase 1).
Details of Work: Installation of new ash veneer corridor doors to replace
existing.
The works will commence on Monday 3rd July 2006 and be complete by Friday
21st July 2006.
