Work Placement Visit - can you help? Reminder.

In week commencing Tuesday, 4 May, I am organising a work experience placement visit for six pupils from Grange Technology College. The first week will be a programme of activities drawn up around the group's interest areas. In the second week I am hoping to provide each one of them with a 4-day placement elsewhere in the University.

Do you do anything really interesting that you would like to show or talk to others about for say anything from an hour to a half-day session?

Are you able to offer a 4-day standard work placement in your area for the second week of their visit - Tuesday, 11 May - Friday, 14 May?

If you are able to offer anything, or wish to talk to me before committing yourself, please get in touch. My contact details are: ext: 5304 email: l.j.broadley@bradford.ac.uk

Annual Review of the CARP 2003/04 Reminder.

The Annual Review of the Work of the Course Approval and Review Panel (CARP) will take place on Friday 14th May 2004 and will be held in Room 01.58 in the JB Priestley library from 12noon until 4.30pm.

All principal and alternate members of an Annual Monitoring Team or a Course Approval and Review Team are invited to attend.

The review is intended to be a reflective event providing the opportunity for members to comment on how things have gone this year - what has gone well and what hasn't worked so well. We aim to share good practice among members and, if appropriate after full discussion, to bring forward suggestions for changes to policy or procedure for consideration by the Academic Policy Committee.

Feedback last year indicated that the 2 hour event did not allow sufficient time for full discussion of all the issues that came up, so in response the meeting this year will commence at 12noon and finish at 4.30pm.

The event is intended to be informal - so if you're unable to attend for the full session please feel free to turn up when you can and join one of the groups.

If you would like to attend this session please email tqe-sec@bradford.ac.uk to reserve a place.

PING Reminder.

Claire McNamee
Photographs at Gallery II, Chesham Building

McNamee is known worldwide for her black and white photographs of poets, playwrights and novelists. Simon Beaufoy, Willy Russell, Fay Weldon, Ian McMillan and John Hegley are just a few of her subjects.

Opening on Friday, 16 April, 2004, this new exhibition of colour photography - called PING - is startlingly different but equally evocative.

McNamee said: "My photography is about capturing moments. Some of these are as fluid as a fleeting thought or intimate as private dialogues can be." Born in London in 1953, McNamee is now based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. The photographs in PING have a sometimes dream-like quality as sunlight flickers through shutters or neon streetlights swirl.

McNamee adds: "Events like these often happen momentarily, disappearing in the blink of an eye. These mood pictures express a quirkiness that is often present in concentrated experiences."

The exhibition is open weekdays 11am until 3pm between Friday, 16 April and Friday, 14 May, 2004.
