Andrea Balderson, the JobShop Co-ordinator, has now left the JobShop to take up a new post in Personnel but Cheryl Holdsworth and Nicola Crowther are still available to assist with your casual staffing needs.
If you are looking for help over the summer please let us know as soon as possible.
You can still reach us on ext 5506/4992 or email JobShop@bradford.ac.uk. Or why not pop over and see our great new office!
As you may be aware, the University's press office currently provides a press cuttings service where copies of all newspaper, journal and online cuttings are distributed to 'key figures' and individuals around the organisation.
Firstly, the labour-intensiveness of this service is causing valuable resources within the press office to be diverted from more meaningful and proactive work. Secondly, we are aware that readership of our press cuttings is low once they have been sent out. Therefore, in an effort to improve this service and to fruitlessly stop pushing large amounts of paper around the organisation, we would like to make some new proposals which will see the marketing/recruitment manager for each academic school, more involved in this service.
We propose, as of 1 June 2005, to:
This report will detail:
This report is designed to make the press cuttings service a more demand-focussed entity. Once you receive your copy on e-mail, on say 1 June 2005 detailing the press activity we have received for May 2005, you can then send it to staff across your schools for them to read at their leisure.
Any requests for press cuttings you or your staff wish to receive can be directed to the contact named in the report (Emma Banks, Deputy Press Officer) who will deal with them accordingly.
We feel this approach will not only help focus our resources on more profitable areas of work, it will help you to keep abreast of all generated copy for your school and help reduce organisational wastage in terms of officer time and paper.
To help you digest this new information, a sample press cuttings report is below.

We would welcome your feedback on these proposals.

Sense of Space: two
Friday 27 May - Friday 3 June 2005 Weekdays 11am - 5pm
FreeThis exhibition marks the culmination of work by fifteen students and two tutors in the Department of Electronic Imaging and Media Communications at the University of Bradford.
Sense of Space: two, is very much a group show. As such it reflects the overall philosophy of the course and has students working in close partnership with tutors and each other to produce work specifically intended for public exhibition.
The work is often personally challenging and amounts to the concrete and expressive realisation of students' (and tutors' ) creative thinking. Much of the work stems from a detailed consideration of real urban and public spaces. It is also an investigation into the material and social nature of creativity and innovation in visual communication and design.
The exhibition is being run in conjunction with the EIMC Final Year Show taking place at the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television - see above for your invite to the show.
