BriefingAs part of the planned School of Health Studies (SoHS) relocation to the City Campus this year, SoHS student and staff car park permit holders will be able to park their cars at the City Campus with effect from Tuesday 31 May.
Current SoHS car park permits will be valid for use at both the existing SoHS site (until it closes) and the city campus up until the date they expire. Existing permit holders do not need to change their permits at this time.

Permit holders are reminded that they require their Staff / Student access card to enter and exit the car parks at City Campus at all times. Users need to hold their cards close to the reader until the barrier arm starts to rise. If your card fails to operate the barrier users need to press the button on the intercom adjacent to the card reader which will connect you to the security control room from where the barrier can be raised and advice given.
Permit holders are not permitted access via the Richmond Road Barrier off Great Horton Road. Staff and student access cards will not operate this barrier as access is restricted to visitors, deliveries, taxis, emergency services and disabled users only. Anyone requiring access to the car parks near to Richmond Building, Chesham and Horton Buildings, IPI, ICT and Norcroft Centre will need to use the Tumbling Hill Street barrier entranceThe University Car Parking Regulations at City Campus remain the same as they were at SoHS.

Sara Blagbrough is the new Student Safety & Welfare Co-ordinator. Her role is to keep up to date with the issues facing students and to ensure the university has excellent support mechanisms in place which are accessible to all. She will work predominately with staff to ensure that policies, procedures and guidelines reflect the needs of staff and students and to offer help and advice to staff to enable them to deal with support and welfare issues.
One of the first tasks in this new role is a review of Welfare policies and disciplinary procedures at the University which will be done in consultation with staff and students to ensure that policies and procedures are relevant and reflect what happens in practice - any suggestions or comments are welcome. Sara will also be developing training and 'knowledge networks' for staff to create an opportunity to share good practice or identify training needs.
Sara is here to help you! If you have any concerns regarding how welfare issues are currently dealt with or can identify a gap in policy or provision then please let her know.
Any member of staff or student who uses their own vehicle for business use is required under the University travel policy to have the following;
It is now a requirement of the University’s insurance arrangements that these documents are checked and recorded if you use your vehicles for business travel.
A secure database will be used in the Finance Office to record your details and copies of the documents will be retained on your Personnel file.
Please bring your documents, at your convenience, to Anne Gallagher in D34 of the Richmond Building for checking. Anne can be contracted on ext3202 or agallagher@bradford.ac.uk if you require any further information.
The Counselling Service will write a letter of mitigation in support of students who are dealing with their difficulties through counselling. The standard letter provides an indication of how the student’s difficulties are affecting their capacity to work, without disclosing the details
Please do not send students for a letter if they have no intention of undertaking counselling – in this case we would only be able to confirm attendance, and this is a drain on our limited resources.

We are proud to announce that we have distributed funds to a further ten projects from across the University which all aim to improve the student experience. The funding has been made possible through generous donations from our alumni during the Braduate Fund telephone appeal which took place earlier this year.
The fund attracted over 20 applications from staff and students who had project ideas about ways to improve facilities, support students in financial emergencies, and develop under resourced student clubs and societies.
