New. Clearing Open Days - car parking

A Clearing Open Day will take place on Wednesday 23rd August. As such colleagues are asked to not park on the sunken car park (behind the IPI building) as this will be reserved for Open Day visitors.

£5.51 manual rate is now £5.67

£5.77 clerical rate is now £5.94

New. UCAN Volunteering Fair

The UCAN Volunteering Fair is due to be held on Tuesday 19th September, 11.00am - 4.00pm in the Students' Union Basement, Communal Building.

Owing to last years success, there will be over 40 volunteering opportunity providers ready to give you all the information you need about volunteering, ranging from The British Red Cross, to Science and Engineering Ambassadors, to Bradford Youth Offending Team to Bradford Environmental Education Service, and everything in-between!

As with all UCAN's Volunteering, the fair WELCOMES STAFF as well as STUDENTS.

New. Professor Mike Bibby's retirement

Professor Bibby has worked for the Institute of Cancer Therapeutics, formerly Cancer Research Unit, for many years and will be well known throughout the university. Professor Bibby will retire at the end of this month.

An account has been created for donations to Professor Mike Bibby's retirement collection. The account number is 78055/83001/0050. There is also a card at cashiers for people to sign when they make their donations.

Languages for All - reminder

Are you thinking of learning a language?

Our Languages for All programme offers tuition at various levels in French, German, Spanish, Russian and Arabic, plus free use of our language resources centre. In addition to previous provision, we are hoping to offer a higher level of French this year (F7 and F8), and possibly a second level of German.

Classes start in week commencing 25 September.

Works on Campus


New. Chesham B and Chesham C Buildings

For your information, both the lifts in the Chesham B and Chesham C central staircase will be taken out of service on Tuesday 22 August 2006 from 1.30pm hours for a period of 2 to 3 hours whilst essential electrical work is carried out.

New. Richmond Building

For your information the mains cold water will be shut off to the Richmond Building on Saturday 2nd September 2006 to enable the replacement of pipework and repair a leaking water main. The mains water will be turned off at 8.00am and the work should be completed in the day. Toilet and handwashing facilities will not be affected by these works.
