Academic staff - important information
There are a number of changes to general teaching areas that academic
staff need to be aware of. An LSS Bulletin will be circulated soon giving
full details; however, we would urge academic staff to attend the session
"Get to know the lecture room and its facilities" at 1 pm on
Wednesday 21 September 2005 in N3 Teaching Room, Richmond Building - see
http://www.brad.ac.uk/dev-prog/teaching/index.php?course=05-01
for details and to reserve a place.
It is important that all staff have a new staff card to gain access
to controlled areas such as general teaching areas. If you haven't got
yours yet, please do so without delay - see http://www.bradford.ac.uk/lss/news/bulletin/2005-06/cards.php
for details of how to do this. Again, more details will be included in
the LSS bulletin.

Exhibition at Gallery II
Chinese Art: Traditions and Innovations
Friday 16 September - Friday 14 October 2005
Weekdays 11am - 5pm (Thursdays until 6pm) | Free
Chinese art goes back to the first millennium before Christ and was the
source of inspiration for Japanese art before the eighteenth century.
After recovering from the Cultural Revolution, Chinese art is prospering
again.
This exhibition of contemporary Chinese art includes paintings strictly
following the Chinese classical artistic tradition, and paintings which
bring innovation to the tradition as well as works seeking inspiration
from the very early stages of Chinese art, folklore art, religious art,
and a few works which reflect the international art movements of the late
20th century.
This exhibition is presented by Dr. Rebekah Xiao Zhao, who moved from
China to the UK with her family after gaining her PhD in Chinese History
in 1994. She currently teaches Chinese in Ampleforth College, Leeds University
and Bradford University (School of Management).

Get Involved in Bradford’s Peace Festival
I am writing to invite you to participate in the Bradford District Peace
Festival, which takes place 11 - 20 November 2005. We aim to celebrate

Bradford University is already on board with the Festival. The Peaceful
Cities Programme is holding a forum on Religion, Free Speech Art. The
Commonweal Collection is celebrating its 30th anniversary at the JB Priestly
