Annual fire drills - thank you

Fire Safety Officer, Steve Wiggins would like to thank all staff for their patience and understanding over the last two weeks during the annual fire drills. Although they cause disruption they are a legal requirement and thankfully only occur once per year.Steve would further like to thank all the Emergency Wardens who volunteer to help. Thanks to their invaluable work and effort evacuation times continue to improve.

The University is always in need of additional wardens to help coordinate the evacuation process. Anyone wishing to volunteer should speak to their line manager.

Could you host international student for a meal at your house?

Can you spare a few hours once or twice a semester to host a small group of international students at your house?  Typically, this would involve offering the students a light meal and friendship, usually on a Sunday afternoon.  This can help international students overcome a sense of isolation, and gives them a chance to see British life and meet local people on an informal basis.

The Student’s Union seeks staff and other local people who are willing to host two or three overseas students for no more than three occasions in the academic year.  The same small group of students would be involved each time.

For more information contact Michael Allhouse at UBU: m.l.allhouse@bradford.ac.uk or telephone 07971938995
