The university is one of twelve regional organisations to join the new West Yorkshire Carbon Management Club launched by Yorkshire Forward on the 5th of February. This new initiative has been designed to bring together forward thinking organisations to identify and reduce their emissions of greenhouse gases in order to mitigate the risks associated with climate change.
Yorkshire Forward has set a long-term (2050) target to reduce carbon emissions by 60% and they are hoping the club will become a demonstration project of best practice for the whole region. Supported by the Carbon Trust and Enviros the club will focus on improving participant’s energy efficiency and minimising energy wastage in buildings, transportation and equipment use. Other partners include Kodak and Leeds/Bradford Airport.

Over the next four weeks the University is running a campaign to get us all recycling more. As a starter we are offering you the chance to obtain free desk-side paper recycling trays and larger office paper recycling bins. All you then have to do is collect your waste paper in your desk-side tray and empty it into the larger office bin when full. Ancillary Services will empty the office bin on demand.
If you're not recycling paper within your office and would like to start, please e-mail environment@bradford.ac.uk with your request for the bins, your name and delivery details and we will arrange for recycling facilities to be delivered.
Keep a lookout for further initiatives over the next four weeks. Remember every little bit helps.

There will be an open meditation group in T1.1 Ashfield 12.30-1.30 on Wednesdays.
It's free although people can make donations for the Buddhist monk's time and expenses. He is young and good fun and the point of the meditation is to reduce stress in staff and students.
It is booked for a couple of months, although not during Easter. We will see how it goes, if well attended we will continue.
