The scheme links current undergraduates to students in Shipley College (FE) who are about to be applying thorugh UCAS. These students will have had little or no family history of progression to Univesity and students would see them for one hour per week over 6 weeks or so to help them decide if they want to go on to HE.
Vouchers to the value of £20 as a thank you and travelling expenses are paid.
Please email m.alipoor@bradford.ac.uk or contact UCAN for more details.
A meeting will take place at 1.30pm on Wednesday 15 October in Meeting room 2 communal building for anyone wanting further information. If you have any ideas of how else to engage with students please let me know.

In response to a dramatic increase in thefts and burglaries on campus, the University has been working hard to improve security.
A security policy and guidelines for minimum standards of physical security has been developed with our insurers. These are available on the finance web page at http://www.brad.ac.uk/admin/finance/private/security.htm
Everyone is asked to be vigilant and ensure valuables are not left in rooms unlocked or unattended. Last year the University suffered 56 reported incidents, 17 of which occurred between August and early October. In the same period this year we have had only 2 (a computer and a laptop).
We would like to maintain this good record, so don't make it easy for the thieves.
