Restrictions on International Students opening UK bank accounts

A number of you will know that there are restrictions on International Students opening UK bank accounts, since the events of September 11th.

Student Financial & Information Services (SFIS) are currently talking to the local Banks to ascertain their requirements. The banks require SFIS to confirm the overseas address for these students. Barclays Bank has advised that the offer letter from the University would suffice as confirmation of the overseas address. It will be very helpful if you have contact with International Students to ask then to ensure they do bring their offer letter with them. The offer letter can also be helpful for International Students when they go through Immigration Control at the point of entry to the UK.

For further details please contact Andrea Moorhouse, Office Manager, Student Financial & Information Services. Email: a.e.moorhouse@Bradford.ac.uk, or phone ext: 6504
