Are you from an Ethnic Minority background?

If so, you may be interested in the following information. The Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 came into effect on 31st May 2002. The Act places both statutory and non-statutory responsibilities on public authorities, including Higher Education institutions. Universities have a statutory general duty to work to eliminate unlawful racial discrimination, promote equality of opportunity, and promote good race relations. Under the Act, the University is required to 'assess the impact of the institution's policies on students and staff from different racial groups'. The purpose, therefore, of this note is to invite staff, from ethnic minority backgrounds to feedback on the University's approach to racial equality both in policy and practice in a number of areas.

The meeting is to be held on Tuesday 17th September, 12:30 - 2:30, in F29, Richmond Building (lunch provided).
