Career Development Services - Launch of a new Careers Resource
Career Development Services staff have joined forces with staff at Leeds
Metropolitan University to write and develop a brand new Careers resource
- Careers Futures. The workbooks were developed by a team of Career Development
Advisers and Colin Neville Effective Learning Officer at the School of
Management.
Careers Futures covers the areas of self analysis looking at decision
making, work values, skills and then how these can then be applied to
the needs of employers and job search. In total there are six workbooks
that can be used on a standalone or a complete set basis.
Activities can be used interactively with students on an individual basis
or in groups, they are well laid and out and adhere to the 'Plain English
standards'. The resource comes in a paper version in a folder and is also
available on CD Rom.
Career Development Services are sure that personal tutors, placement
tutors and any student support service may find these useful. They will
be particular useful to support students in producing Progress Files or
in Personal Development Planning.
For further information please contact Ann Berry or Catherine Gregory
in Career Development Services. Email a.berry@bradford.ac.uk

News from Purchasing - Hotels and Taxis
After recent benchmarking exercise of local and national hotel rates,
Purchasing Services recommends the use of First Option, a third party
booking agent for all of your accommodation and conference requirements.
They offer the most competitvely negotiated rates and operate on an invoiced
'bill back' basis which takes away the need to pay for hotels yourself.
