Secret Santa SuccessThe UCAN Volunteer Project Co-ordinator, Caroline Chambers, would like to express her gratitude to all staff and students of the University who made contributions to the Secret Santa 2002 collection. Special thanks to all staff on E Floor, Richmond Building and to the following University Timegivers: Lesley Beebe, James Bishop, Tracey Brankin, Deborah Cawley, Helen Dewhirst, Jolanda Hagoort, Colin Leeman, Elizabeth Parton, and Graham Smith. This initiative, in partnership with Business in the Community's 'Bradford Cares', was a fantastic success. The University of Bradford achieved and exceeded the targets set. Bradford Foyer were the first to receive 35 gift bags for its 16 to 25 year old students. They wrote to thank all involved: "We are all writing to say thank you for the brilliant presents. Everyone was really surprised at how good they were and how well chosen. It was kind of those involved to take so much time and trouble to bag and wrap things up so nicely. We would all like to say just how much the gifts were appreciated. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!" The staff and students of the University also provided 50 food hampers for elderly and house bound residents of Odsal; distributed by the staff and volunteers of Odsal Community Centre. 100 children's toys were collected, gift wrapped and presented to Sutton Community Housing Association for distribution after the annual pantomime on 11th January 2003. Thank you once again for all donations and assistance with this project. For further details watch out for a feature article in the next edition of News and Views.
