We offer several taught Masters programmes in Archaeological Sciences, all of which focus on traditional strengths at Bradford. Our approach emphasises the integration of fieldwork-based archaeology with the natural and physical sciences, facilitated by the wide range of really excellent analytical facilities and staff expertise. We are passionate about the importance of teaching (rated ‘Excellent’ in external Subject Review) as well as in research (our RAE 2008 quality profile recognises over 50% of research activity as internationally excellent or world-leading).
All programmes are taught with core and a variety of optional modules. Assessments include essays, oral presentations, and practical examinations. Each student successfully completing the taught portion of the course prepares a substantial research dissertation supervised by individuals teaching on the course and other staff within the Division at times drawing on the expertise of those in other departments within the University or at other institutions.
The new MSc Analytical Sciences is coordinated by Dr Ben Stern (Archaeological Sciences). It is taught by staff from the Division of Archaeological, Geographical and Environmental Sciences, the Bradford School of Pharmacy and the Division of Chemistry and Forensic Sciences.
We hold a series of open days for postgraduate applicants throughout the year.
