RADIATION PROTECTION SUB-COMMITTEE

TERMS OF REFERENCE AND MEMBERSHIP


Radiation Protection Sub-Committee.


This Committee is made up of a senior member of the Academic staff with specialist knowledge in the field of ionising radiation together with the University Radiation Safety Officer, the Radiation Protection Adviser and the University Safety Adviser.

Dr. Martin Brinkworth, Radiation Protection Supervisor, Biomedical Sciences

Dr. Boris Shekunov, Senior Lecturer, Pharmacy


Terms of Reference:

To advise the Safety Committee on Radiological Protection.

To devise, periodically review and evaluate training for all users of ionising radiation.

To review policies and procedures as required by IRR 1999.

To consider and advise upon the conditions and procedures on any experimental investigations which uses ionising radiation.

To approve applications for registration to work with ionising radiation.

To periodically audit the University's radiation facilities.

To hold monthly meetings to discuss the previously mentioned issues.

To provide an annual report from the Radiation Protection Adviser to the Safety Committee.
