Tributes paid to Archaeological Science student

Tributes have been paid to a first-year Archaeological Sciences student, Darren Paul Riddle, who died in July.

Darren, 26, was in the second of a four-week field project based around Malham, North Yorkshire. He was last seen on his day off and was later found by the mountain rescue team having fallen to his death.

Carl Heron, Dean of Archaeological and Environmental Sciences, said: "This is a tragic incident. Darren was a mature student who enjoyed his studies at Bradford. He was popular and well-liked, with many interests and a bright future. He will be sorely missed by his peers and staff alike."

Darren's Personal Tutor in Archaeological Sciences, Andrew Jones, added: "The whole Department will miss him greatly. He was an excellent student - he was very enthusiastic about his subject and had the quiet confidence of a mature student. It was a real pleasure to have known him."
