University hosts Engineering Taster Day

The School of Engineering, Design and Technology hosted a taster day where students could find out about Engineering, Design and Technology subjects at the University.

The event was held in the Great Hall and was aimed at gifted and talented Year-12 students from local schools.

It was co-ordinated by Admissions Liaison Officer, Joanne Crowther, to give prospective students a 'Design and Technology Experience' (DATE).

Students could find out what engineers do and had the opportunity to ask questions to a panel of experts from across the School. Hands-on design and build exercises were set up for the students to participate in and they were shown a demonstration of the latest state-of-the-art CAD software.

Joanne said: "The event was very successful and informative to students who are interested in this area of study and the University is pleased that they could host such an event."
