Dominic Spies on Big Brother

Dominic Spalding.Former student Dominic Spalding landed a unique job on Big Brother as a member of the team monitoring the goings-on in the Big Brother house around the clock.

Dominic, 22, researched storylines for the video editor which were then made available on the show's website.

The Big Brother website, which had competitions, mini-polls and forums so die-hard fans could stay up to date on the latest from the house, received millions of hits during its nine-week run.

Dominic said: "I watched everything - all the things that don't get put on TV. I had to find material for running storylines. I think it is a brilliant idea for a TV programme. People just love watching people. It is very voyeuristic and you don't even need to go outside to watch them.

"The show was on for only an hour and I was really interested in what happened during the 23 hours that weren't on TV. I also read and responded to loads of emails - the website was really interactive with viewers voting for tasks and text messaging."

Dominic received a degree in Electronic Media and Telecommunications from the University in July.

And although he was working nine hour shifts on the show - next door to the set where Davina McCall hosted the live eviction shows - producers on Big Brother gave him time off to attend the University's Awards ceremony.
