Staff from the Network.University SME Knowledge Network

West Yorkshire small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) recently shared best practice knowledge at the first of the Bradford University School of Management's free SME Knowledge Network forums for 2003.

School Business Associate David Williamson (centre) and Dean of the School of Management, Professor Arthur Francis (right) present a book about innovation to prize draw winner McMillan Serrant, of the Action for Black Community Development, following the SME KNowledge Network event.

The SME Knowledge Network is part of the School's ongoing commitment to provide businesses and organisations with overviews of contemporary, tried and tested, Best Practice Management in 'plain English'.

The Learning and Skills Council (LSC), West Yorkshire, is supporting the network, which is also helping to support the local economy in promoting higher skills and knowledge dissemination.

School Business Associate David Williamson, who manages the Network, said: "Translating the often sophisticated language of management into plain English appears to be a winning formula with our visitors and it's one of the key reasons why the network is proving so popular."

Other forums have included: The Work-Life Balance and The Balance Scorecard. The next free forum, entitled Business Excellence, will be held on May 20.
