Groundbreaking
Dubai Trip
The School
of Management's European
Centre for Total Quality Management (ECTQM) recently travelled to
Dubai to help support excellence in education at a groundbreaking conference.
The eTQM College in Dubai played
host to head teachers, academics and government officials from the United
Arab Emirates and across the globe.
More than 600 delegates attended
the Excellence in Education Conference, which was the first conference
to be held in Dubai on education in English with simultaneous Arabic translation.
Professor Mohamed Zairi (pictured
above at the conference) is Head of the ECTQM, 'virtual' Dean of the
eTQM College, and Chairman of the Excellence in Education Conference.
He said: "The Conference represented
a major leap forward in so far as the application of quality principles
in education are concerned. Through the input of several eminent speakers
who are friends and associates of the ECTQM, we have managed to demonstrate
best practice applications in delivering superior standards of education
and learning and have had access to quality concepts that can enable any
institution providing learning opportunities to aspire to improvement
and to raising its standards overall.
"In all, this unique event
has positioned the ECTQM extremely well as a centre of excellence with
a lot of experience in the application of Total Quality Management in
important sectors such as education."
The eTQM College was established
in September 2002 to be the college of choice in the Arab world for TQM
and related knowledge requirements and to enable individual development
and growth in a virtual learning environment.
