Dawn Brooker, Murna Downs and Sue Benson.Conference marking 10th Anniversary for Bradford Dementia Group

'Quality care and integrated services' and 'the art and science of dementia care' were the parallel themes in the School of Health Studies' recent two-day conference - celebrating 10 years of Bradford Dementia Group.

Researchers, practitioners, professionals and carers attended the practical 'Dementia Care 2002' conference, which provided an up-to-date review of the latest developments in practice and research and a vision of the future of dementia care.

Professor Murna Downs, Head of the Bradford Dementia Group, said: "We have come a long way in 10 years - we now know that how we care for people with dementia directly affects their quality of life. The task ahead is to ensure that this development in thinking and research is realised in practice.

"Our 10th anniversary conference marks this important crossroads in the field."

Dementia Care 2002 was organised by Hawker Publications in conjunction with the Bradford Dementia Group, Dementia North and the North West Dementia Services Development Centre.
