Civil Engineering - President Visit

The President of the Institution of Civil Engineers recently attended a special presentation on Bradford's urban regeneration plans.

Adrian Long.The lunchtime presentation on Bradford Redevelopment was held at Heaton Mount by Director of Regeneration and Housing Patrick Wiggins.

President of the Institution Professor Adrian Long (pictured left) attended the lunch after a morning of tours in regeneration areas of Bradford including Little Germany and Manningham. These were part of week-long visits to different sites in the Yorkshire region.

Professor Richard Ashley, of the School of Engineering, Design and Technology, who is to be the next Chairman of the Institution's Yorkshire and Humberside Region, said: "The University is committed to supporting business in the city and surrounding areas, and a number of regeneration projects are currently under way. "We were delighted to welcome Professor Long to a lunch to mark the occasion."

Attendees at the lunch included: Chief Executive of Bradford Vision Sharmila Gandhi; Dr Bob Gomersal of BTL Group; Counsellor Simon Cooke, Portfolio Holder; Right Reverend David James, Bradford Cathedral; Chair of Manningham/Girlington SRB, Dr Zulfar Khan-Ali; and Chief Executive of Manningham/Girlington SRB, Jake Piergies.
