News and Views May Home

Welcome

A number of the University's students have been hitting the headlines in recent weeks. May's edition of News & Views features some of the worthwhile initiatives that the students have been involved in.

Postgraduate research student Robin Corrick recently sang solo at a special concert held in memory of his son, Roger, who died from a rare genetic disorder. Meanwhile, six University students have been working on a film which they hope will help to raise drugs awareness.

Former University student Geoff Lee is celebrating a sell-out run of his first novel, One Winter. He is currently working on his second book. And the University Theatre Group was one of the groups involved in a unique production, Storyscape, which brought together a multicultural cast of youth theatre groups and international students from the community.

Meanwhile, this has been an excellent couple of months for the School of Health Studies - not only did it help to win a bid to fund an extra 40 medical student places to the region, but it also maintained its Investors in People status, which it first attained in 1997.
