SEARCH STARTED FOR NEW VC
The
recruitment of a new Vice-Chancellor is well under way. Following an advert
which appeared in The Times Higher Education Supplement on March 23, a
longlist of candidates was drawn up at the end of April.
A shortlist of candidates for the position is to be drawn up within the
next few weeks and interviews will be held in June.
Registrar and Secretary Nick Andrew said: "In accordance with Statutes,
a joint committee of Senate and Council has been established to recommend
a successor. That committee has now met twice and agreed the further particulars
for the post.
"The position was advertised towards the end of March. We are on target
for the Council to be able to make the appointment, on the recommendation
of the Senate, on June 28. Progress is, as far as we can judge, good.
It was pleasing to see, for instance, how much more upbeat the further
particulars are than they were when we were recruiting Professor Bell."
Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Bell will take up his new post as Principal
and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Stirling in September.
