MULTIMEDIA TEAM ANIMATE DELEGATES
The
latest technology in computer animation was demonstrated at a recent conference
organised by the Department of Electronic Imaging and Media Communications.
The conference, held at the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television,
was organised by the SIMULA project, which is part of Media Tech in association
with TDS digital imaging and video technology, and provided a forum for
delegates to see the latest developments in dynamic visual signage and
information presentation.
The project is part of SIMULA, which is based in the Department of Electronic
Imaging and Media Communications. The project offers advice and support
to companies in the use of advanced computer graphics software and systems.
Support ranges from basic advice and consultancy through to fully developing
software and assisting with research.
The
work is part-financed through the European Regional Development Fund and
has applications in fields such as special effects and animation, computer
games, new media IT, and the medical, engineering, and textile industries.
Andy Curtis, SIMULA Project Manager, said: "SCALA software is an integrated
multimedia creation, broadcast and playback system which reaches an audience
through TV, plasma screens and monitors, satellite cable channels, the
Internet or networked PCs.
"It may be the solution to creating TV-like multimedia on the web, CD-ROM
or on a network. For example, it is possible to create dynamic full-screen
production and show advertising material or customer information at the
point of sale, or you can use SCALA to broadcast the content via satellite
to whoever you choose on the planet."
During the seminar TDS SCALA experts Ian Edmundson and Sami Younis demonstrated
the concepts, versatility and capability that drives the very powerful
software.
