FORMER STUDENT RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS AWARD

A former Biomedical Sciences student has been awarded a prestigious award by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS).

Jennifer Johnson, who was representing IBMS, presented the Institute's President Prize to Lisa Wilson. Lisa, who was a full-time student on a three-year BSc Hons course in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, had consistently good results throughout the course and she ranked third in the final year.

Her specialist option was cellular pathology and her final-year project was entitled 'The Influence of Oxygen on the Metabolism of the Anti-Cancer prodrug AQ4N'.

Lisa attained a first-class Honours degree. She is currently working as a Research Technician at the Institute of Cancer Studies at the University of Birmingham doing gene cloning and cell culture work to investigate EBV and its link with cancer.
