The Association is a European Funded organisation, which is part of the
Department of Business Services and Regional Development at the University.
It is part of Yorkshire Forward's 'Cluster Strategy' and has partnerships
with Leeds Metropolitan University (LMU), Centre of Excellence, Electronics
Design Centre at Barnsley BIC, Virtual College and York Electronics Centre
at York University.
Chairman of the Association, John Duffy, said: "With the launch of Electronics
Yorkshire Association and support partners we now have a true focal point
for the sector which will provide a conduit for a wide range of services
and business opportunities.
"The Association has recognition both by local and national government
and I have no doubt that with active industrial participation the future
for our sector is extremely bright."
The Association will provide the region's electronics industry with the
tools it needs to maximise its potential. These range from creating a
strong voice for the sector to direct business support projects and customised
training courses.
Benefits for companies becoming involved with the Association include
networking and dissemination, events programmes, help-line advice and
guidance and business specific support.
The Association was awarded £900,000 from the European Regional Development
Fund (ERDF) and a further £570,000 to provide a strategic database for
all the electronics industry within Yorkshire and Humberside.
