New Director of Learning Support
Services
Dr
Stan Houghton has recently been appointed Director of Learning Support
Services.
As part of his new role, Stan will ensure that the Library and Computer
Centre function as an integrated administrative department.
Dr Houghton (pictured left) said: "My appointment is the first
phase of implementation of the new constitution for LSS. The change follows
an extensive review last year of the administrative structure and processes
of LSS. One of our objectives is to reduce duplication where appropriate
and streamline administration.
"The change in roles and responsibilities is considerable and there is
a lot to do in a relatively short time. In the interests of service continuity
and stability, implementation was deliberately planned for summer 2000
to ensure that the new arrangements had time to bed in, before the retirement
of the University librarian in Summer 2001.
"A lot of work went into the LSS planning statement and the new constitution.
I am wholly committed to both and what has already been achieved, particularly
in the last couple of years."
