In the limelight

Every month we will include a section which focuses on departments in the news - TV, radio and print.

To get the ball rolling, academics from Interdisciplinary Human Studies have been hitting the headlines in recent months. Paddy O'Sullivan, of the Irish Diaspora Research Unit, affiliated to IHS, was consultant to, and appeared in the BBC2 series 'The Irish Empire.'

Professor Anthony O'Hear has written for the Daily Mail on topics ranging from British success in the Olympics and immigration, through to cloning and changes in the sex laws. He has written for the Wall Street Journal on the need for silence and the Wall Street Journal Europe on 'Confessions of a Little Englander', Gordon Brown and Oxford University. He has participated in discussions on Radio 4's 'Today' programme about the desirability of scientific research and the expansion of education.

Ian Vine was mentioned in the Sunday Herald talking about psychological perspectives on pornography for women and in The Irish Times on the aftermath of Princess Diana's death.
