Making an Impact

The Careers Advisory Service is urging minority ethnic students to make an impact this semester by attending a series of events to boost their skills and confidence when preparing for and seeking employment.

Hermione Berry, IMPACT Project Manager said: "This is a positive action project targeted at UK minority ethnic students. It is designed to enhance employment skills and to increase employment opportunity. We have a diverse programme of activities with different options to suit everyone and all it costs is a little time."

This semester the programme is offering tips on improving interviewing skills, writing successful CVs and application forms and surviving assessment centre with assistance from several employers.

IMPACT is a two year collaborative project involving the universities of Bradford, Huddersfield, Leeds and Leeds Metropolitan, funded by DfEE and Higher Education Funding Council for England.

The programme also has a Supporters Club of employers who are keen to work with students from minority ethnic backgrounds. These include Bradford & Bingley, The Halifax, Logica, Bradford MDC, Northern Foods and Sainsbury's.
