UNIVERSITY TASTER SESSION
Students from Gateshead Emmanuel College were given a lecture by a Bradford
Royal Infirmary pathologist during a recent visit to the University.
The visit was organised by Schools Liaison for students due to enter the
University in September 2002. Members of the group were introduced to
their areas of interest, including the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
Here, the students were able to examine sections of Gangrenous appendix
and acute inflammation of the Fallopian tube.
Dr Bill Ashraf demonstrated bacteria & fungal growth on different types
of media in petri dishes and the students were shown a process of electrophoresis
prepared by University students for DNA analysis.
