OPEN DAY FOR INDUSTRY
Sixty
final-year students in the Department
of Computing recently demonstrated their expertise to industrial decision-makers
during a visit to the University.
Representatives from the smart card, media, video, Internet and advanced
IT industry were shown around the department, introduced to students and
given a presentation on 'How to Sponsor an Undergraduate or Postgraduate
Project'.
Among the projects on show were: 'Tracking the Motion of Pedestrians in
Video Surveillance Images'; 'Mobile Robotics and Applications: Collaborative
Working over the Internet to Perform Remote Experiments'; and 'Web-based
Snooker/Pool Tutorial with Online Catalogue.'
