WEBSITE'S NEW EXTERNAL FACE
The University's website has had a makeover with its new
external face launched in May.
The
site, which has already received praise for its visually striking graphics,
is aimed at prospective students and visitors and follows the same style
as new University publications such as the Undergraduate Prospectus, course
booklets, and the Annual Report.
Anyone accessing the University's website from off campus will see the
new page - internal users will continue to see the existing home page.
However, there are links between the two.
The University's Web Officer, Claire Gibbons, of the Department of Marketing
and Corporate
Communications, developed the site.
She said: "The external site utilises a lot of the new photographs that
have been taken for University publications, resulting in a fresher, more
up to date and colourful site. "The next stage of the development is to
add the course information for 2002 and new resources such as a Clearing
microsite and an image bank.
"I would like to thank everybody, especially the WWW Development Working
Group and the departmental information providers, for their input so far.
The website will always be developing and changing and the views of staff
and students will help to shape its future."
The internal website is currently being redeveloped by Web Administrator,
Ruth Whitfield, of the Learning Support Services' Computer Centre.
