Former
Student Appointed University Vice-Chancellor
A former Bradford student
who is now Vice-Chanellor of the Islamic University of Technology of Bangladesh
recently visited the School of Engineering, Design and Technology.
Professor Fazli Ilahi studied
for his PhD with a prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship in the Mechanical
Engineering Department from 1974 until 1977.

During his visit, he met Pro-Vice-Chancellor
Professor Rae Earnshaw, Dean of the School Professor Andrew Day, and Director
of Studies Dr Bill Seale, as well as visiting some of the School's laboratories
and reviewing some of the changes and developments which have taken place
since his student days.
Professor Ilahi expressed
an interest in a formal collaboration between the two institutions in
terms of staff development and training, and credit transfer for undergraduate
and postgraduate studies.
He told academics he believed
the University of Bradford was highly regarded for the quality of its
teaching and research, and has a high reputation amongst the international
academic community as an excellent and welcoming place to study.
